The glazed cones tell the story of how a historic, functional object has been transformed into a contemporary, decorative design
The glazed cones range reflects an important part of the Kähler story. We see the range as a collection of novel, decorative elements. The alternating heights and the conical design make a minimalist, graphic impact, tempered by the elegant colours of the tactile glazes. The beautiful glazed cones are lovely by themselves, but can be combined in small, decorative groups or with other lovely Kähler designs in your home.
The collection features 25 glazed cones in two sizes and five colour combinations – in matt, glossy, and reactive glazes. The beautiful glazed cones are available in shades of red, yellow, green, blue, and grey with different surfaces, from speckled to smooth, lending the tops depth and a decorative impact. They all feature glazes which give the cones matt, glossy, and reactive surfaces. They complement one another beautifully and are perfect for creating unique, stunning tableaux.
Back in the olden days, the craftsmen and potters in the Kähler workshop designed not only ceramics, but also glazes. They used cone-shaped, ceramic objects known as glazed cones to test how the glaze flowed and what it would look like after firing. This gave them an impression of the ultimate appearance of the glaze on a given product. The glazed cones were given codes, which referred to a particular colour and glaze. When brand new glazes were developed, they acquired the name of the artist or potter, and this appeared on the bottom of the glaze top.
