Easter is the atmospheric high point of spring, and Kähler is now giving it the attention it deserves: Hammershøi – the classic, grooved dinner service – has been embellished with delicate motifs of harbingers of spring such as daffodils, eggs, bunnies and a twig sprouting tender new leaves. The first offerings of Hammershøi Easter are a plate, mug and bonbonnière, as well as a hanging decoration with new motifs each year. The pieces are embellished with hand-painted watercolours and bring a poetic touch into the home as the summer draws closer day by day.
The Hammershøi dinner service was created as a tribute to world-renowned artist Svend Hammershøi’s lifelong collaboration with Kähler’s Ceramic. Hammershøi Easter brings the poetry of the season to life beautifully, along with our lovely traditions that signify brighter days ahead.
The decorative designs on selected parts of the simple, grooved dinner service are a contemporary take on classic Nordic harbingers of spring and a budding twig as a recurring motif on the white background.
Hammershøi’s colours and embellishments bring a light Scandinavian feel into the home, where you can easily capture a fresh spring mood with simple hanging decorations or a pretty table setting with pieces from the Easter dinner service.
The classic Hammershøi dinner service was designed by Hans-Christian Bauer, who has reinterpreted the distinctive profiles that Svend Hammershøi was already working with in the early 20th century. Rikke Jacobsen, with her trademark naturalistic, poetic style, is the artist behind the beautiful watercolour details on the porcelain. Kähler also chose her as the artist to give the white, grooved Hammershøi dinner service a touch of contemporary Christmas magic in 2018. Both the Christmas and Easter dinner service decorations are inspired by the delicate, asymmetrical compositions of the botanical world.
